Our Mission

Free Play Society is a 501c3 organization that platforms, promotes, and makes accessible the works of diverse contemporary writers.

Driven by the belief that the arts open doors to greater understanding, education and growth, Free Play Society creates in support of multi-generational learning communities who wish to be in meaningful dialogue around relevant social issues.

Free Play is about creating theatre as the people’s playwright, creating work with the belief that drama and performance is something that everyone wants and deserves to do. Everyone has creative impulses, everyone has the instinct to tell stories, share experiences, and respond to the world around them through art.

That’s where Free Play comes in: to break down the traditional structure between playwright, community, audience and theatre with open-source scripts that sends a clear message: these plays belong to you.
